Schedule a Wellness Exam
Regular gynecological exams are an essential part of maintaining good reproductive health. These exams can help detect potential health issues early on and ensure that any necessary treatment is started as soon as possible. At our clinic, we offer comprehensive gynecological wellness exams that include pap smears, STD testing, cancer screenings, and breast exams.
What is a wellness visit and exam?
A gynecological wellness exam is a routine medical appointment with a gynecology professional that is focused on maintaining good reproductive health and preventing future health problems. During a gynecological wellness exam, your gynecologist will review your medical history, perform a physical exam, and may order some preventive tests or screenings based on your age, sexual activity, and medical history.

Pap Smears
A pap smear is a screening test used to detect cervical cancer. During a pap smear, your gynecologist will collect a sample of cells from your cervix and send it to a lab for analysis. Pap smears are typically recommended every three years for women aged 21-65, or more frequently if you have certain risk factors for cervical cancer.
-
STD Testing
STD testing is an important part of gynecological wellness exams. If you are sexually active, it's important to get tested for STDs regularly. This can help ensure that any infections are caught and treated before they can cause long-term damage. At our clinic, we offer a range of STD tests, including tests for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV.
-
Cancer Screenings
In addition to pap smears, gynecological wellness exams may also include other cancer screenings. For example, your gynecologist may perform a pelvic exam to check for signs of ovarian or uterine cancer. They may also recommend a mammogram to screen for breast cancer.
-
Breast Exams
Breast exams are an important part of gynecological wellness exams, as they can help detect potential issues with your breasts early on. During a breast exam, your gynecologist will check for lumps, bumps, or other abnormalities in your breasts. They may also show you how to perform a breast self-exam at home.
When Should You Get an Exam?
The frequency of gynecological wellness exams can vary depending on a woman's age, medical history, and individual health needs. Generally, it is recommended that women visit their gynecological provider at least once per year.
It's important to talk with your healthcare provider or gynecologist to determine how often you should have a gynecological wellness exam based on your individual health needs and risk factors.
Below 21 Years
Although pap smears are typically considered unnecessary before age 21, we still recommend seeing a gynecologist before then to address any health concerns.
21-29 Years
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends a Pap smear test every three years
30-65 Years
ACOG recommends a Pap smear test every three years, an HPV test alone every five years, or a combination of a Pap smear and HPV test every five years.
